Shootout®

The Shootout® is a Black Class tactical tool engineered for military personnel, law enforcement, first responders, and everyday carry enthusiasts. It is built for anyone who requires rapid, reliable one-handed automatic deployment under high-stress conditions but doesn't want the burdensome pocket weight of a traditional tactical blade.

Most OTF automatics use metal handles which add weight and cost while also limiting the texture options available through machining. The Shootout® uses CF-Elite®, a carbon fiber-filled nylon that keeps the knife at 2.80 oz while maintaining the rigidity an OTF mechanism needs to function reliably. The molded handle also allows for a detailed grip texture that aluminum can't replicate.

CF-Elite® is a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite that provides the handle rigidity an OTF mechanism needs, at significantly less weight than aluminum. The molded construction also allows for a grip texture that improves indexing and control in high-pressure or one-handed situations.

S30V is a stainless steel running at 58-60 HRC, offering strong edge retention and balancing toughness and strength with good corrosion resistance. High wear resistance ensures that the edge stays sharp longer between sharpenings, which matters on a tactical knife expected to perform on demand.

An OTF (out-the-front) knife deploys the blade through the front of the handle rather than folding out from the side. Double-action means the same thumb slider both deploys and retracts the blade, allowing for full one-hand operation in either direction. Single-action OTFs require manual retraction, making double-action the more practical choice for one-handed tactical and emergency use.

PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a process that deposits a thin metallic coating onto the blade in a vacuum chamber, bonding it directly to the steel surface. It adds corrosion and wear resistance while reducing surface friction. Compared to Cerakote, PVD is thinner and bonds more closely to the steel, making it more resistant to chipping at the edge. On the Shootout®, it also gives the blade its distinctive Flat Dark Earth finish, which reduces glare.

The tanto profile reinforces the tip by widening it at the point, making it significantly more resistant to tip breakage than a drop point or clip point under lateral stress or piercing use. For a tactical knife built around demanding scenarios, that tip strength is a practical advantage. The flat grind along the main edge also keeps the blade efficient for general cutting tasks.

The carbide glass punch is a hardened tip integrated into the pommel of the Shootout®. Carbide is hard enough to shatter tempered glass, such as a vehicle window, with a focused strike. It is primarily useful in emergency situations where rapid egress from a vehicle is needed, making it a relevant feature for law enforcement, first responders, and anyone who carries with emergency preparedness in mind.
